My prayer right now, is for peace. Not only for our world and country, but for our own hearts and homes. In the wake of world chaos, death, protests, hatred, anger, and rage – my heart is flooded with sadness when I see such heartbreaking acts. I often lose sight of the end goal – the promises that God has – and the beautiful future He has in store for us.
We live in a time where we tend to lose focus on encouraging and lifting one another up.
We live in a time where we become so bogged down with personal issues that it can become so easy to neglect giving our issues over to God and let Him mend our broken, bleeding, ailing hearts.
Maybe you haven’t been told lately that you are loved and that you matter. YOU DO. YOU ARE LOVED AND YOU MATTER!
Maybe you are dealing with a personal crisis. Maybe you are struggling with political arguments or spiritual beliefs. Maybe you are struggling with an angry child. Right now, maybe you just need to hear, “God is in control,” – not our fear, our anxiety, our depression, or our grief-stricken hearts.
In the midst of social media battles, harsh word exchanges and endless debates, it is on my heart that life is so precious. As Author and Speaker Janell Rardon says, “It’s time for a heart lift!”
Ultimately, right now, instead of jumping on every bandwagon of hatred, anger, and rage, we need to spread the love.
We need to go out of our way to be kind to all people – regardless of their race, religion, or age.
In a recent sermon, Pastor Michael said, “Anything that drives me to prayer is something being used for good.”
If we continue seeking Him, He WILL show up and can use the situation, struggle, ailing heart or tears for good. There’s a difference in approaching God with our problems and surrendering our lives to Him … the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s aiming to trust Him through the good and the bad. To acknowledge that He is the Author of blessings and Healer of wounds.
Maybe right now, it’s time for a do-over. A spiritual refresher.
Since spring is right around the corner, it really has me thinking about a spiritual and emotional “spring” cleaning. A time for reflection. A time to stop and thank God for my struggles.
It’s time to let Him clean the dust off my heart strings. To let Him shine through the parts of my heart that I’ve neglected for too long.
Right now, I need to stop worrying, turn over my stressors and struggles to God, and pray that He can use these situations for good. To look forward to the beauty that He has for me. To embrace where I am right now.
But, the only way a do-over works is if something changes IN US.
Today, I am praying Philippians 4:6-7 over us as we spend time reflecting on where we are and what parts of our hearts may need to be refreshed. I pray our heart and actions will echo the same love, grace and compassion that Jesus bestows upon us daily.
Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
